{RELEASE} Swoon Patterns Charlotte City Tote

As I’ve mentioned before I am a bag collector. However, I don’t collect handbags that don’t strike my fancy. The bag must serve a utility purpose with three little ones and must also be stylish!

Meet Ms. Charlotte City Tote! The newest release from Swoon Patterns!

Charlotte isn’t slouchy by any means. She’s like the statuesque Queen City of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is definitely roomy. The overall measurements are 10.5 inches wide, 11 inches tall, and 6 inches deep. The straps are two parts. The first is the standard shoulder length. The second is what makes Charlotte unique…hanging straps. The hanging strap feature gives her the extra edge she deserves to be trendy. My first attempt from start to finish was 8 hours. After the practice round, as I call it, my suggested time for an intermediate seamstress is 4 hours.

Here’s what you’ll need to make her:
1/3 yard exterior fabric, 44” wide quilting weight
1/3 yard vinyl fabric, at least 44” wide (any heavy non-fraying fabric)
2/3 yard lining fabric, 44” wide quilting weight
3 yards 20” woven fusible interfacing (Pellon Shapeflex SF101)
1/4 yard 20” stiff fusible stabilizer (Pellon Peltex 71F)
2 yards 5/32” piping cord (or premade piping)
One 7” all-purpose zipper
One 1/2” swivel clip & One 1/2” D-ring or O-ring
Four 3/4” rectangle loops or O-rings
One magnetic snap
Eraseable marking pen
Coordinating thread

The beach fabric and upholstery vinyl were from Joann’s. This was my first time working with upholstery vinyl. Did I mention that I’m in love with vinyl now!
